James Wynne Lynch, born in New Haven, CT on September 22, 1939, to Edward Patrick and Margaret (Wynne), passed away peacefully on November 4, 2022, in Fort Myers, FL.
A longtime resident of Durham, CT, Mr. Lynch was predeceased by his brothers, John ‘Jack’ Francis, and Edward John and sister-in-law, Nancy Dejon Lynch.
He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1958 and the University of Bridgeport in 1962. Mr. Lynch was very proud to be a third-generation Irish immigrant and was a lifelong sports enthusiast. He was a respected teacher, coach, and administrator in Connecticut. Retiring in 1998, Mr. Lynch was a former head football coach and beloved educator in the Plainville school system for over 30 years.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Carolyn Willard and her husband Tim of Tampa, FL and Elizabeth Cheney and her husband Tim of Carrboro, NC. He leaves his grandchildren, Garrett and William Willard and Isabelle and Peter Cheney; as well as his nephew, Dennis Lynch and nieces, Mary Eileen Fillion, Kathleen Lynch, Nancy Faccadio and Patricia Mathews.
Mr. Lynch’s daughters would like to express their gratitude to their father’s aide, Ana Vallejo, who provided care and companionship for the last two years.
A private graveside service and burial will take place at St. George’s Cemetery in Guilford, CT at a later date.
