James W. Smith

May 1, 1956 - May 13, 2019

James Wallace Smith, 63, a resident of North Fort Myers, FL for the past 30 years, formerly of Tampa, FL, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 in Cape Coral, FL. He was born May 1, 1956 in Tampa, FL.

James was of the Christian faith. He was a comedian, always telling jokes and laughing. James was an extraordinary father, one of the most gentle, fun loving people you could be around. He loved to be outdoors, always in his garage coming up with new inventions for the house, cars, or buggy. He loves his pontoon boat and fishing. James has a camp in river ranch that we always went to as a family. He was a heavy equipment operator his whole life, he was damn good at it and proud of it! James always told his family “Everything can be fixed with duct tape”, “Put duct tape on it, it will do the trick”. He was a great family man, as well as a good friend. He will be greatly missed and always will be remembered by all! He was a giant teddy bear.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 26 years, Ronda Smith of North Fort Myers; loving mother, Mary Jo Smith of Tampa, FL; three loving children, Rochelle Spencer, Jaimee Smith, and Danielle Smith, all of Cape Coral; three siblings, Vicky Hedgecock (Raymond) of Valdosta, GA, Sharmaine Bauknight (Jimmy) of Land O’Lakes, FL, and Robert Smith of Odessa, FL: as well as five grandchildren, Liam Spencer, Lillian Spencer, Isabelle Spencer, Jaihden Smith, and Elijah Carrier.

James was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Smith.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Mullins Memorial, 1056 NE 7th Terrace, Cape Coral, FL 33909.
