Jay P. Floyd age 58, of Cape Coral, a former longtime Lowell, MA and Key West, Fl resident, passed away suddenly from an apparent heart-related condition at the Health Park Medical Center on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
He was the beloved husband of Lynda J. Floyd , with whom he celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary on February 17,2025.
Born in Lowell on December 11, 1966, he was the son of James Floyd of Summerfield Florida who survives him and the late Anne Floyd, who passed away on September 20, 2021. Jay is the brother of the late Brian Floyd who passed away on October 2, 1974.
Jay was raised in Lowell, attended Lowell schools and graduated from Greater Lowell Regional Vocational Technical High School in 1984. Following high school, he began working as a mechanic on heavy machinery. Jay began teaching country line and two-step dancing, following in his parents foot steps. Jay had his own dancing group called Just For Kicks. Jay and his group of line dancers opened for a Garth Brooks Concert. No one could hold a candle to Jay on the dance floor. In 1993, Jay began DJing full time. He had his own business DJing weddings, corporate events and parties also became an ordained minister and performed numerous wedding ceremonies. Jay loved his dogs, Blueberry and Raspberry, and cat, Muffin, and was the best pet daddy any animal could ever ask for. Blueberry, Raspberry and Muffin were his children. Jay was a great lover of all animals and was a huge animal advocate. He believed all animals should be loved and cared for. His favorite pastime was spending time playing with his dogs, Blueberry and Raspberry. When not working, he loved spending his time hanging out with his wife and dogs, riding his motorcycle and exploring Florida. Jay enjoyed his Florida life riding around the Florida Keys on his boat and showing his visiting family island life.
Jay was predeceased by his beloved dog, Blueberry, and we get comfort knowing he is reunited with her along with his mother, brother and mother and father in-law.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by three sisters, Kelley (Floyd) Cook and brother-in-law James Cook of Summerfield Fl, Jamie (Floyd) Corcoran and brother-in-law Larry Corcoran of Summerfield Fl, Robin (Floyd) Donovan of Dracut, MA. He leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members.
A private family gathering is planned.
