Joan Marie Housel, 75, of Louisville, KY, passed away on January 12, 2025 in her North Fort Myers, Florida home. Born on August 26, 1949, she spent most of her life in Louisville, where she was known for her love of family and active social life.


Joan retired after a long career at Naval Ordinance and enjoyed spending her later years in Florida, where she was a familiar face in the local community. She had a passion for bingo, reading, and socializing with friends at the American Legion. Her connections to her Florida community and her family were important to her.


Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Frances Bollinger and Ruben Lee Bollinger, and her husband, Charles "Chuck" William Housel. She is survived by her children, Wayne Joseph Gruber (Gudrun), Dawn Marie Riordan (Glenn), and Kristie Lynn Ingram (Craig), as well as her five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.


A private service will be held, with family and close friends gathering to remember Joan’s life, details will be provided via Facebook from Wayne Gruber and Dawn Riordan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local Humane Society in her memory.
