Joan Ortiz

Joan Trimble Ortiz, 78, a Seneca, SC resident for the past 20 years, formerly of Madeira, OH, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 in Ft. Myers. She was born July 19, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA to William and Sophia Trimble, now deceased.
Joan attended St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church in Madeira, OH, as well as St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Seneca, SC where she was highly active in many church organizations. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Joan graduated Cum Laude from The University of Cincinnati in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She was a Special Education teacher for 10 years in the Indian Hill School District. Joan founded the Clemson Chapter of Birthright in conjunction with her husband Paul and served as its director since its inception.

She is survived by six loving children, Maryann Ortiz Inns (Don) of Indianapolis, IN, Paul Ortiz (Kathleen) of Wood Ridge, NJ, Daniel Ortiz (Karen) of Portland, OR, Patricia Ortiz of Salem, SC, Kathleen Ortiz of Salem, SC, Michelle Ortiz-Grace (Jeff) of Cincinnati, OH; brother, William Trimble (Ida) of Little River, SC, and sister, Patricia Brown of Pitman of NJ; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Ortiz, as well as three brothers, Leon, John “Jack” and James Trimble.

A Funeral service for Joan and Paul will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 8, 2015 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 170 Bountyland Road, Seneca, SC 29672
