Joanna Winter, 72, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Gulf Coast Medical Center with her family by her side. She was a resident of Fort Myers, FL since 2016, formerly of South Haven, MI. Joanna was born on July 1, 1950, in Essexville, MI to William and Bernadine Killingsworth, now deceased. She graduated from Garber High School in 1969, and she worked for the Michigan State Police Department until she retired in 2016.
Joanna was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing shuffleboard and bocce ball, figure skating, and watching NASCAR races on Sunday afternoons. She also loved entertaining and was a dear friend to all, but nothing meant more to her than her two boys and seven grandchildren.
Joanna is survived by her loving children, James Plant (Jayna) of Peyton, CO and John Plant (Melissa) of Marion, IL; siblings, Linda Schaefer (Wayne) of Fort Myers, FL and Tom Killingsworth (Marion) of Lansing, MI; and seven grandchildren: Tyler Plant, Jacob Plant, Adyson Plant, Brayson Plant, Kylie Plant, Zachary Plant, and Gavin Plant.
She was preceded in death by her former husbands: Richard Getz in 1989 and Robert Winter in 2011.
