John Alan Grosser, 75, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since May 2021, formerly of Westfield, NJ, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021 in Cape Coral. He was born June 6, 1946 in Cleveland, OH to John and Sue Grosser, now deceased.
John grew up in Cleveland, Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie where he and his dad enjoyed pleasure boating, racing, and building sailboats. With his mom as mentor, John gained a lifetime of cooking talent by spending hours together in the kitchen preparing family and traditional holiday meals.
Upon graduating from Lutheran HS East, he attended Ohio University, receiving a BA of Business Administration in 1968. John began a family of two wonderful children - Jonathon and Jennifer. He started what would become a long and successful career in technology sales at Sperry Univac (now Unisys) for the next 35 years.
In the 1980’s John relocated to New Jersey, residing initially in Princeton, NJ, where daughter Alexandra was born. In the 1990’s John and family chose to settle in Westfield NJ where they resided for over 20 years.
In 2003 John and his family visited Ganzhou China with Spence-Chapin Family Services to welcome home 10-month-old Liana as the newest family member.
Throughout his life, John enjoyed many active outdoor hobbies including boating, scuba diving, camping, flying small aircrafts, shooting, and golfing. He spent wonderful years with his family and friends boating and swimming in the crystal waters of Lake George, in the Adirondack Mountains of New York.
John also possessed a keen interest in fine food and culinary arts and was a member of Les Marmitons of Cranford NJ.
As an avid traveler, John and his family joined friends on vacations throughout the Caribbean islands, Australia, and Hawaii.
He is survived by his former wife, Rhona Grosser of Bokeelia, FL; former wife, Cheryl Grosser of FL; four children, Jonathon Grosser (Eileen) of Twinsburg, OH, Jennifer Grosser of FL, Alexandra Grosser of Morristown, NJ, and Liana Grosser of Cape Coral, FL and Rochester, NY; brother, Bob Grosser (Pat) of Parrish, FL; grandchildren, Nolan and Collin; nieces and nephews Steven, Chris, Megan, Alexis, Cheyenne, Susan, Linda (Joe), Lauren (Sean) and Matt (Abigail).
John was preceded in death by sister Carol Thomas of Virginia.
A Celebration of Life Brunch will be held from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM on March 6 at Stage House Tavern, main dining room, 366 Park Ave, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076, where we can all share a meal and memories together to honor his life. Please RSVP with the number of family members attending by February 18th, 2022.
