John W. "Jack" Lamon

John W. "Jack" Lamon, 78, a resident of Port Charlotte, FL since 2017, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 in Cape Coral, FL. He was born December 15, 1944 in Philadelphia to John and Dorothy Lamon, now deceased.

Known fondly as "Jack" by friends and family, John was a retired Philadelphia Police Officer with a storied career and proudly served the city for over 25 years in many areas including the 22nd & 5th districts, and with specialty units including the Civil Disobedience Unit, and Narcotics Division. After retiring from the Philadelphia Police Department, he worked with the Bureau of Narcotics Investigation with the PA State Attorney General's Office.

John was also a US Naval Air Reserve Veteran, a US Army Reserve Veteran, and a lifetime member of the Philadelphia FOP Lodge #5.

As a hobby he loved to go deer hunting, fishing, and shooting with his sons.

He is survived by his loving sons, John Lamon (Lindsay) of Jim Thorpe, PA and Thomas Lamon (Kimberly) of Cape Coral FL; siblings, Carol Scogna, Ronnie Lamon (Mary), Dotty Levy, Randy Chapman (Cindy), Debbie Galloway (Jack), Cheryl Curcio (Robert), and Linda Ashman (Peter); as well as grandchildren, Melissa Kenney, Sarah Lamon, Elisabeth Lamon, and Caitlin Lamon.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Lamon in 2001.

A Memorial and Burial with Military Honors will be held 1:00 PM Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 2500 Main Street, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931. There will be a lunch following at the same location. Please dress appropriately for a boat ride. For further details, please call Thomas Lamon (302) 463-9351.
