John “Tom” Strachan

John “Tom” Strachan, 74, a resident of Fort Myers, FL since 1996, formerly of Washington County, PA, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2024 in Cape Coral, FL. after an extended battle with Parkinson’s/Dementia, surrounded by those he loved. He was born August 10, 1949 in Washington, PA to John and Marjorie Strachan, now deceased.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Debbie Strachan of Fort Myers; three loving children, Scott Strachan (Meredith) of Fort Myers, Shae Strachan (Vanessa) of Mountain Green, UT and Jaimee Thompson (Abe Abarbanel) of Fort Myers; sisters, Judy Cirka (Larry) of Placida, FL, and June Chappel of Washington, PA; nieces, Kelly and Allysia; nephew, Ben; as well as grandchildren, Tate, Reagan, and twins, Jude and Eiselee.

Tom graduated from Chartiers Houston High School in 1967. He earned degrees from West Liberty and West Virginia University. Tom worked in the healthcare industry before starting Abby Services Home Health Care in 1996. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, an amazing grandfather as well as a builder, handyman, and fisherman.

John was preceded in death by son-in-law, Craig Thompson; two nephews, Cody and Davie; as well as a brother in law, Dave Chappel.

In lieu of a funeral service, Tom’s family will be honoring his memory privately.
