John Lowell Wentz age 72 passed away Friday August 20th, 2021 in Cape Coral, Florida after a very sudden and brief battle with Covid. John was born on October 15th, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah to L. Andy and Betty Wentz.
He has been a resident of N. Fort Myers, FL for the past 5 yrs. John was a very proud member of the Utah Pipe Trades local 57 and 140, respectfully, for 50 years! He decided to follow in his dad and uncle's footsteps right after high school by joining the union and becoming an apprentice. John attended trade school where he completed the 5 year Journeyman program and was an awesome Pipefitter/Welder, retiring in June of 2009. John made so many friends throughout his 50 year career. John enjoyed boating at Bear Lake, Lake Powell and Flaming Gorge! He also enjoyed riding his Big Dog chopper and his Harley, always with his wife Dena right by his side. LOL! Of course Dena wasn't riding bitch! Sturgis the motorcycle mecca was the highlight of the year for the duo for 12 years in a row. John and Dena met so many people through boating and motorcycles from all over the country that soon became part of their extended family. John loved so many people throughout the years, he loved with all his heart. LOL! Sometimes to a fault. John was great at always helping other people; that might include him helping others by spending their money on stuff that he was sure they needed - such as different cars, motorcycles, parts, tires etc. He was also great at giving people advice (also known as his two cents). Those conversations usually started with “you know what you should do” followed by his opinion whether you wanted to hear it or not! But if you ever needed anything John would drop everything to come and help. Again, many times it was more help than you had bargained for! John will be missed by so many for so many reasons and our hearts are breaking at the thought of this very strong, stubborn and special man being taken from us entirely too soon! May you rest in peace my handsome husband, father and friend until we meet again! We love you billions!
John is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Dena Wentz of N. Ft. Myers; two loving daughters, Kariann Wentz (Dave Halliwell) of Ft. Myers and Lacey Nicole Wentz of North Salt Lake, Utah; one sister, Paula Cantu (Gilbert) of Wausau, WI; one grandchild, Alyssa of Ft. Myers; one niece, Cassandra Cantu of Chicago,IL; one nephew, Dr. Colby Cantu (Dr. Maya) of Jacksonville, FL as well as his ex wife, Carolynn Shaffer of Ft. Myers; also “the boys”, our faithful kitties Marley, Snickers and Salem!
