Joseph Favata, Jr., 83, a Lee County, FL resident since 1985, formerly of Burbank, IL, passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 in Cape Coral. He was born December 26, 1931 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Marie Favata, Sr., now deceased.
Joseph was a member of St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church in Cape Coral. He retired to Florida after working forty years at his family's business (Wabash Canvas Co.), a company he was instrumental in helping build, but his dream was a simple one, he wanted to sell hot dogs on the beach. He sold hot dogs off of a boat on Captiva Beach to tourists and locals alike (a business that still thrives today), eventually he decided he wanted more, so he became a Charter Captain and took people from all over the world out on his boat. He was loved by all who knew him, if you asked him, he would say his greatest accomplishment was his family, but I think his greatest accomplishment was how much he brought to those around him, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Kathy Favata of Cape Coral; four loving children, Kevin Favata of Darien, IL, Donna Favata-Bosh (Ron) of Geneva, IL, Lynne Favata-Evoy (Timothy) of Palos Park, IL, and Bryan Favata of Ft. Myers, FL; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; as well as Madisun and Rosie the dogs.
