Juan Alberto Matos

Juan Alberto Matos, 59, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past thirty years, formerly of Miami, FL, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024 in Cape Coral, FL. He was born July 12, 1964 in Cuba to Juan and Marina Matos now deceased.

Juan was of the Pentecostal faith. He was passionate about his career as a Chef. Many years ago, he owned a restaurant called the Hard Hat Café where his famous Cuban sandwich was voted the best in town. He later took a job as a Chef for Shellpoint Retirement Community and later moved on to Hope Hospice as an Executive Chef. He worked for this company for many years, filling the residents’ tummies with delicious food that he made with lots of love. Albert was a fun spirited soul who took on many passions, one of which included acting in short films produced by his son Xavier.  He loved being the star of the show for his pride and joy. Albert also loved his Christian music and always wanted to listen to his coritos pentecostales. Albert will always be remembered for his enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He had very strong values and was well liked by everyone, due to his positive energy. Albert had incredible patience and always made time to help others. He would always say “it all comes back to us for better”. Albert was a beautiful person inside and out. He cared so deeply for the people around him and shared all his heart with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them -- and if you knew him, you knew it. He will be forever missed. We couldn’t have asked for a better father, husband, brother and friend, and we will miss Albert every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him. Until we meet again.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Betsaida “Betsy” Matos; his son, Xavier Matos of Cape Coral, FL; mother-in-law, Maria Mercedes Cuevas of Tampa, FL; brother, Reynaldo Matos of Ft. Myers, FL; as well as his loyal dog, Jack the Jack Russell that is with him now.
