Julia Lyn McKinnon

Julia Lyn McKinnon, 50, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 1998, formerly of Bethlehem, PA, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023 in Fort Myers, FL. She was born August 22, 1972 in Indianapolis, IN.

Julia was of the Christian faith. Julia was a member of Liberty high school, Class of 1991, and a graduate of Penn State University, Class of 1995.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Education.  She fulfilled her life’s goal of becoming an educator, first teaching at Country Oaks Elementary, then Up-the-Grove Elementary schools in LaBelle.  In 2007, she transferred to Gulf Elementary School, in Cape Coral, the position she held until her death. Julia received such satisfaction in assisting her students, often going above and beyond.  Julia also spent many hours participating in community activities, such as the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer events, Safe Kids Organization, and Gulf Elementary Drama department.

She is survived by her loving husband, Reginald McKinnon; children, Madison, Haley, Olivia, and Savannah; parents, James Ringenberger of Cape Coral, and Linda Waskevich (William) of Bethlehem, PA; mother-in-law, Beryl McKinnon; brothers, James Ringenberger III (Shannon) of Whitehall, PA and Jeffrey Ringenberger of Cape Coral; brothers-in-law, Justin McKinnon (Stephanie) of Bethlehem, PA, and Donald McKinnon of Cape Coral, PA; as well as sister-in-law, Ann Marie McKinnon of Bethlehem, PA.

Julia was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Payton McKinnon of Cape Coral, FL; as well as father-in-law, Reginald J McKinnon.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33916. Graveside services to follow at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL  33907.  The family will receive friends for a time of visitation, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33916.
