Karen Cassin Weeks, 53, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14th at her home in Cape Coral, Florida.

A native of Nashua, New Hampshire, and a Lee County resident since 2004, Karen was a beloved mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She was a 1984 graduate of Keene State College and a working artist. An accomplished portrait and landscape painter as well as sketch artist, Karen spent her entire life creating art. She was represented by the Wild Child Gallery in Matlacha, Florida, and was a member of the Cape Coral Art League.

Karen was a passionate, caring mother to her three children. They were her light and life.

She loved living in Florida, her dogs, watching the sunsets and going to the beach. She will be remembered as a true natural painter of the landscapes and people in Maine and Florida, using her brilliant palette. Karen began her career with her mother under the tutelage of Maurice Easter, on Chester Street in Nashua, NH. She won her first award at the Greeley Park Art Show in 1977.

Karen is survived by her loving father, Thomas Conway Cassin of Nashua, NH; three beloved children, Emily Weeks and her fiancé Matthew Graham of Gainesville, Wyatt Weeks of Orlando, Florida, and Owen Weeks of Cape Coral, Florida; three sisters and their spouses, Sandra & Philip Dei Dolori of Ogunquit, Maine;Michelle Cassin and James Reed of Nashua; and Kristen and James Dubord of Nashua. Karen also leaves her treasured niece and nephews, Olivia Dei Dolori and James and Myles Cassin-Reed.

Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia (Vanderlosk) Cassin.

As were Karen's wishes, her family will hold a private celebration of her life in Captiva, Florida, on Thursday August 20, 2015 at 6:00PM. Those wishing to express their condolences may meet in the Chapel by The Sea parking lot at 5:45 PM. There will be a memorial service at a later date in Ogunquit, Maine.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Karen Lee Cassin Weeks are suggested to Wildchild Art Gallery, 4625 Pine Island Rd., Matlacha, FL 33993, and will be used to set up a scholarship in her name.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you're there."
