Kathleen Frances Haas

Kathleen Frances Haas, 73, a ten-year resident of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of New Milford, CT, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024, in Fort Myers, FL. She was born January 17, 1951, in Norwalk, CT to Charles and June Miller, now deceased.

She is survived by two loving children, Morgan Haas of Cape Coral, and Gregory (Elysia) Haas of Las Vegas, NV; two precious grandchildren, Kayden and Tobin; nephew Chris Carlson and niece Deborah Obman; as well as several cousins, family members and many dear friends.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl Philip Haas in 2021; her beautiful sister, Gail Carlson in 1998; as well as her niece Lori Carlson in 2018.

Kathie was married to Earl on April 6, 1974, in Norwalk, CT. Kathie worked as a Radiation Therapy Technician at Norwalk hospital until they moved to New Milford and purchased their first home. She then worked at New Milford hospital as a Radiologic Technologist/Medical Assistant, during this time she attended and graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Kathie and Earl started their family with the birth of Morgan in 1981 and then Greg in 1983. Kathie continued working as a Radiologic Technologist/Medical Assistant until retirement. She also taught classes at Northwestern Connecticut Community College for the Medical Assisting Program and was a substitute teacher at several Elementary schools in New Milford. During her time in Connecticut Kathie enjoyed traveling to Cancun and Disney World.

In late 2013 Kathie, Earl and Morgan, followed the well-traveled path of most North Easterners, moving to the Sunshine State, buying a home in Cape Coral, FL. Kathie spent her time drawing and painting beautiful tropical scenery. She continued to travel, going back to Connecticut to visit her grandchildren and friends and to Cancun and Disney World, becoming a 5-year Disney Passport Holder! Kathie took up swimming every day in the community pool, and after her morning swim she would sit by the pool and read mystery novels. Kathie also enjoyed the beach, collecting shells and the occasional boat trip. Kathie made many good friends in her community, they would travel together, go out for lunches and dinners, she especially loved Thursday Chinese and a movie. Kathie also started weekly trips to Top Golf, completing the full Florida retirement requirement.

Kathie will be dearly missed, especially her quick wit, contagious laugh, and her kindness and compassion to everyone she met.

Family and Friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Service on June 1, 2024, at Faith Assembly of God, 7101 Bayshore Rd. North Fort Myers, FL 33917 at 11:00 am.
