Kevin Michael Clapp

May 19, 1992 — November 30, 2022

Kevin Michael Clapp, 30, a resident of Fort Myers since 2016, formerly of Melbourne, FL, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022 in Cape Coral.  He was born May 19, 1992 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Kevin was born into a military family and was the youngest of two children. As a child he loved playing outdoors with his friends and building forts with his big sister Kasey. He had a passion for soccer and played for many local youth teams. By middle school his passion for music began to bloom. Initially he thought he’d follow in his sister’s footsteps and join the chorus, but quickly determined that the school band would be a better fit. With the choice of learning the flute or the tuba, he chose the latter and quickly excelled, being recognized statewide and nationally for his talents. In 2006 and again in 2008 he proudly earned the title of "Uncle Kevin" when his nephews Isaac and Gabriel were born. Tragically, also in 2008, Kevin unexpectedly lost his mother. Even then, he continued to push forward in life and did all he could to be a light to those around him. He had many passions growing up but forwent those and served in the US Army. While enlisted, Kevin completed one deployment, earned many awards, metals, recognitions, and was promoted quickly. During his time in the military, he threw himself into his passions of electronic music and dance. Such passions which brought him to the Atlanta rave scene, where he connected with a large family of friends. He always inspired others to express and love themselves through his life motto of "Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect" (PLUR). In 2014 Kevin was thrilled to welcome his niece, Melina, into the family. After his honorable discharge in 2015, he moved back to his hometown of Melbourne, FL with his future wife Gianna Richards. A year later they both left for Fort Myers, FL, where they spent six years together. On January 10th, 2020, Kevin and Gianna were married according to their pagan customs. He spent his time caring for his family, and dedicating himself to others. He was appreciated by many for his unique sense of humor and infectious laughter. Kevin was always the life of the party, bringing people together for fun times and beautiful memories. He loved his two cats, Jasper and Bloo, as if they were his own children. He was a dedicated husband and cat father, who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of three years, Gianna Richards of Ft. Myers; father, Donald Clapp of Martinsburg, WV; paternal grandmother, Ellen of Poinciana, FL; one sister, Kasey Cruz of Melbourne, FL; two nephews, Isaac and Gabriel; one niece, Melina; three aunts; two uncles; several cousins; Mother figure, Karen Buchanan of Indian Harbor Beach, FL; as well as Jasper and Bloo the cats.

Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Sherri Runk and his maternal grandparents Adam and Sandra Runk.
