Kevin Adam Popiel

December 27, 1957 — January 31, 2025

Kevin Adam Popiel, a resident of Cape Coral, Florida (since 2015) passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025. He was 67 years young. Kevin was born on December 27, 1957 to Ezra and Beverly Popiel (both deceased) and was their first child.

He was born into the Jewish faith and although he wasn’t religious, he enjoyed celebrating the holidays with family and friends. Kevin grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. and later moved to Staten Island where he resided before relocating to Florida. Kevin attended elementary school, junior high school and high school in Brooklyn and eventually went on to receive his GED diploma. He then joined the Navy to begin the next chapter of his life. This life decision enabled Kevin to “pay it forward” to his country, travel the world, meet new people and perhaps, find himself and plan for the next chapter of his journey here on earth. Later on, Kevin would be recognized and respected as a veteran of the United States Navy. After his service in the Navy, he took some courses in college and worked as a teamster. Kevin was also a member of the “Rolling Thunder” organization, a United States advocacy group that sought to bring full accountability for prisoners of war and missing in action service members of all U.S. wars. Kevin, like many Vets, rode their motorcycles with pride to support their fellow vets. Rolling Thunder charities helps members as well as U.S. military troops and their families who are in need of financial help. In recent years, he worked as a driver for Uber. In his spare time, Kevin enjoyed traveling, dining out and loved football, especially the New York Jets.

Kevin will be remembered as being a devoted son, wonderful big brother, loving father and grandfather & fun uncle. He is survived by his two loving children, Matthew Popiel (Caitlin) of Milford, CT and Alana Rodenburg (William) of Staten Island, N.Y., his two siblings, Marisa Giordano (Anthony) of Staten Island, N.Y. and Clifford Levine of Sun City, AZ, as well as three grandchildren he adored: Taylor (Alana and William’s daughter), Joshua and Ryan (Matthew and Caitlin’s sons). Kevin was an uncle to nephews, Eric and A.J. [Marisa & Anthony’s sons] and his nieces Erika Parsel (Aaron) and Aviva [Cliff’s daughters] and great uncle to Leo and Aden [Erika and Aaron’s sons].

Funeral services will be held on Friday February 14th at 12:00pm at Calverton National Cemetery in Wading River, New York, where Kevin will be laid to rest.
