Larry Ceicil Barnhill, 75, a resident of Cape Coral FL since 1990. Who was formerly of Fort Myers FL and Queens NY, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023, in Cape Coral. He was born December 14, 1947, in Queens, NY.
Larry was a Military Veteran and enlisted in the Army in 1967. While serving in the Army he was deployed to action in the Vietnam War from 1968-1969. He was a part of the TET Counteroffensive which was a major escalation and one of the largest military campaigns of the Vietnam War. He was also part of the VN Counteroffensive Phase V, and VI. Larry was honorably discharged from the USAR in 1973 and during his service received a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and a Rifle: Sharpshooter badge. After the military Larry spent most of his career as an advocate for the health and wellbeing of the youth of SW Florida. In his last 30 years Larry has held many positions in this field including as a Social Worker, Case Manager, and a Family Preservation Specialist. His work touched the hearts of thousands of children and families in the SW Florida area and beyond.
He is survived by his loving mother, Dorothy Barnhill of Richland, GA; children, Terenda Barnhill of Lehigh Acres, FL and Brandon Barnhill of Cape Coral FL; twin sister, Linda Barnhill Philander of Richland, GA; three additional sisters, Claudia Barnhill Jones of Jacksonville, FL, Shakti Barnhill of Fort Myers FL, and Christene Barnhill Pierce of Fort Myers FL; brother, Charles Barnhill of Lehigh Acres FL; numerous nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren, Nyasia, Stephon, Shevon, Darrion, Envi, Uriah, Laelah, and Kingston; four great grandchildren, Amari, Ryland, Jaiden, and Kira.
Memorial services for Larry will be held at Mullins Memorial 3654 Palm Beach Blvd, Fort Myers, Florida on Saturday, December 16th, 2023, at 12pm.
