Larry Carl Matzick

Larry Carl Matzick, 69, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Hospice House in Cape Coral. He was born April 14, 1946 in Dayton, OH to Roy and Emmaline (Nowlin) Matzick. Larry's career in real estate community development started in Newport Beach California. His expertise in real estate development brought him to Arvida Corporation in Boca Raton, Florida - the "Old Arvida" group. Larry was very proud of his accomplishments in the communities he developed in Atlanta and in Boca Raton. The last community he helped develop was West Bay Club in Estero and the "Pete and P.B. Dye golf course. His passions were family, his train collection and offshore fishing and oh…the stories he could tell. He is survived by his wife Shelly (Bower) Matzick of Cape Coral; two step-daughters, Amy Redford and Michelle Stewart, both of Ft. Myers; brother-in-laws, Dennis Bower (Eva) of Fort Collins, CO, Gregg Bower (Debi) of Stedman, NC; sister-in-law's, Doreen Olsen of Littleton, CO, Andrea Willard (Earl) of Pt. Charlotte, FL and Reci Hedman (Don) of Ft. Myers; five step-grandchildren, Smith, Bobbyray, Trent, Luke, and Codylynn; many nieces and nephews, as well as the newest addition to our family, Pepper the dog. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Fort Myers Evangelical Free Church, 6798 Plantation Pines Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL 33966 with Pastor Ron Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in memory of Larry C. Matzick are suggested to Hope Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908. Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.
