Lessie Marie Ashmore (Werner)

Lessie Marie Ashmore (Werner), 66, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2021, formerly of Brandon, FL, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 in Cape Coral. She was born February 16, 1956 in Fort Belvoir, Virginia to Richard and Martha Werner, now deceased.

As a young woman after graduating from Brandon High School 74’ her devotion to the Lord took her to Florida Bible College. She was funny, bold, unapologetically authentic, and honest. After college she married and became a doting mother of two handsome sons and spent the rest of her life devoted to being an amazing Mom.   She remained very close to her parents, brothers, and sister throughout her life. She always put her family before herself. After raising two boys and a 20-year career in the financial industry she was called to care for her parents through their battles with cancer and other illnesses. No matter what she was going through, even her own battle with cancer, she carried herself with grace, an unforgettable smile and always looked for ways to make everyone around her feel loved. She was fiercely protective of everyone she loved especially her nephews who thought of her as a second mom.

She was one of a kind, a true warrior of life and the Lord in whose arms she now rests. She will be missed every day by those lucky enough to have known her and loved her. Lessie was the definition of a beautiful soul.  

She is survived by her loving children, Rory Ashmore of Greensboro, NC, and Rod Ashmore of Cape Coral; Siblings, Richard Werner of Tampa, FL, Patty Bullock of Anniston, AL, and Robert Werner of Brandon, FL; her aunt, Linda Werner of Ellijay, GA; sisters in law, Margaret Werner, Adrienne Werner and Sherry Werner; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Lessie was preceded in death by brothers, Richard Werner, Robert “Bob” Werner, and Tom Miller.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 W Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL, 33511 and at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Ellijay First United Methodist Church, 75 McCutchen St, Ellijay, GA 30540.
