Lorraine A. Abbott, 79, a lifetime resident of New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, after living many years with Alzheimer’s disease.  She was born September 23, 1942 in Camden, NJ to Samuel and Lillian Boyce, now deceased.

Lorraine was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Joachim Parish, Annunciation Church in Bellmawr, NJ.  She retired in 2011 after a highly accredited career working as a civilian for the US Navy.  She loved spending time with family - they were her life.  She was a loving, caring daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.  She enjoyed reading, 50’s music, especially Elvis Presley and spending time at the beach.

She was always there to support, whether it was cheering on at a sporting event, dance recital, or caring for another.  Her existence truly captured the meaning of compassion.  She also loved thrift store shopping and would share many of her found treasures.  She never missed a holiday or loved one’s birthday because that was another opportunity for her to give.

The Christmas holiday was always anticipated by family and co-workers alike because that meant her Christmas cookies would soon be received.  She would begin a month ahead to make sure she had time to bake enough to share with everyone.  She had a heart of gold, a great sense of humor and was always smiling - she loved to laugh.

Lorraine is survived by her loving daughter, Lori Hezlep-Murray (Joseph); granddaughter, Nicole (Val); step grandchildren, Eileen, Megan, Kevin and Casey; as well as step great-grandson, Michael and daughter-in-law, Dorothy Abbott.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her son, James Abbott and her grandson, Anthony Hezlep.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date along with a private burial.
