Mario Perez

Mario Perez, 80, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2002, formerly of Rahway, NJ, passed away Friday, September 18, 2020. He was born February 26, 1940 in Las Villas, Cuba to Mario Gregorio Perez and Ramona Perez Hernandez, now deceased.

Mario was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral. He was a courageous man who fled the communism of Cuba in 1964 with his family, including an infant daughter and four year old son. He loved the United States of America and all the opportunity it offered him. Mario had a love for gardening and fishing. Mario’s yard is filled with countless fruits and vegetables that he loved to gift to friends and neighbors. Mario was a kind soul, and he was a friend to all. He always offered a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Mario had a huge heart and loved his family unconditionally.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Caridad Perez of Cape Coral; three loving children, Mario Perez, Jr. (Tammy) of Fort Myers, Amparo Perez and fiancé, Jose Padrino of Orlando, FL, and Marcy Sagorac (Jeff) of Cape Coral; two brothers, Eulalio Perez (Mercedes) of NJ, and Rolando Perez (Isora), also of NJ; nine grandchildren, Carlos, Rosie, Priscilla, Mario, Jr., Kimberly, Stephanie, Jessica, Jeremy, and Mario; 13 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mario was preceded in death by his granddaughter Adrienne; as well as four siblings.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the Cape Coral Yacht Club, 5819 Driftwood Pkwy., Cape Coral, FL 33904 with Pastor Julio Fernandez officiating.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Mario Perez are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital,  501 St. Jude Place Memphis TN 38105.
