Marjorie “Marge” M. (Wooster) White

May 24, 1922 — March 12, 2023

We should all be as lucky as Marge….she had a wonderful life lasting over a century!

Marjorie “Marge” M. (Wooster) White was born on May 24, 1922, in Waterbury, Connecticut, and passed away peacefully at home on March 12, 2023, at 100 years of age.

Marge, an only child, was predeceased in death by her parents, Walter Wooster, and Angeline (Lallier) Wooster; her husband of 25 years, George B. White; and her youngest daughter, Elizabeth, who passed away in 2015.

Marge is survived by her three other children, Paul White (wife Christa), Lynne Talbott (husband Gary), and Mark White (wife Diane). She is survived by five grandchildren: Michael White, Aimee Hayden (husband Clevon), Alston White, Alec White and Bekah Gray (husband Joe) and seven amazing greatgrandchildren.

Her parents were hard-working Christian people who instilled in their daughter the attributes of kindness and generosity which she epitomized all her life. Her family owned and operated a pet shop which drove her love of animals.

Marge entered St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in New York City in 1946 after graduating from Wilby High School in Waterbury, CT and became a Registered Nurse in 1949.  Marge began her forty-year nursing career at St. Luke’s and Woman’s Hospital in New York City, and later at Knickerbocker Hospital, where she met her husband and married in 1959.

Marge and George relocated the family to Florida in 1975, where she lived in Daytona Beach until 2015 and more recently in Cape Coral. In Daytona, Marge worked at the original Ormond Osteopathic Hospital and at Halifax Hospital.

Marge lived out her final eight years of life in a loving home with her oldest daughter, Lynne and her son-in-law, Gary.  Even at age 100, she delighted in daily crossword puzzles, NASCAR races, bird and alligator watching in the backyard, phone visits with friends and relatives, and surfing the internet on her computer.  Her faithful sidekick, Lucie, a Shih Tzu pup, was by her side until the end.

Marge was blessed to live over ten decades with a sharp mind and a happy disposition collecting new and dear friends even into her final years.

In her final year, she celebrated her 100th birthday. This milestone was celebrated by her family and many friends from throughout the decades. Her achievement was recognized by her hometown Mayor, Governor DeSantis, President Biden, and the Pope Francis. Even her favorite NASCAR driver acknowledged their shared birthday --- although he is a bit younger.

Her greatest passion was her family and that will be her legacy.

A service of celebration and thanksgiving for her life will be held at Hope Hospice Chapel, 2430 Diplomat Pakway East, Cape Coral, FL 33909 at 11:00am on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church, 20115 N. Tamiami Trail, North Fort Myers, FL33903 or Hope Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908 (HopeHCS.org).
