Mark Arlin Soholt

September 28, 1949 — October 15, 2025

Cape Coral, Florida

Mark Arlin Soholt, 76, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and a resident of Cape Coral, Florida since 1978, passed away peacefully October 15, 2025, at home with his family by his side.

Born on September 28, 1949, in Mayville, North Dakota, Mark was a son of Arlin and Mary Jane (Lilleberg) Soholt. He graduated from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in 1967 and married his high school sweetheart, Janet, in 1970. Together, they shared 55 wonderful years of love and marriage.

Mark dedicated his life to serving others, beginning as a youth director at Hillside Lutheran Brethren Church and later as the Eastern District Youth Coordinator. After moving to Cape Coral in 1978, he helped establish Cape Coral Lutheran Brethren Church, now known as Living Faith Church. Alongside his brother-in-law, Donald Salvesen, he co-founded Viking Construction, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and craftsmanship.

His commitment to faith and education was evident in his service on the Church of the Lutheran Brethren Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors for Lutheran Brethren Schools, where he served for nine years. He had a deep compassion for the ministries of Hillcrest Academy. Mark will be remembered for his unwavering faith, generous spirit, and deep love for his family and community. He had a contagious smile and energy, always planning the next event – whether a party or a trip – and found joy in bringing people together. He loved to tell jokes, play games, and laugh often.

Mark had a deep love for travel and cherished time spent with his family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife, Janet (Salvesen) Soholt; his three children, Jason (Tanya) Soholt of Punta Gorda, FL, Michelle (Evan) Newman of Fergus Falls, MN, and Jenifer (Andrew) Kundinger of Fort Myers, FL; his sisters Ann (Brad) Grosz of Moorhead, MN, and Mae (Rick, deceased) Rogness of Minot, ND; eight grandchildren: Erica (Greg) Temerario, Seth (Cassie) Sutton, Devin Hoover, Evan (Beatrice) Newman, Kyler Newman, Luke Newman, Hailey Kundinger, and Drew Kundinger; and five great-grandchildren: Harper, Levi, Leonard, Lucas and soon to be born Mackenzie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlin and Mary Jane Soholt, and his brother, Ray Soholt.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at Living Faith Church, 939 SW 7th Ct, Cape Coral, FL 33991, on
