Mary Susan Anway, 70, a resident of North Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Tucson, Arizona, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 5, 2021, of complications from Parkinson’s Dementia. Suzie was born on January 9, 1951, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to loving parents Barbara Ann and Hartwell E. Anway.
Suzie was a woman of great kindness and many talents and loved living for most of her adult life in the Arizona desert with her artist husband, Jack. During the course of her rich and creative life, she was a recording artist, painter, sculptor, jewelry maker, blacksmith, and chef. In addition, she worked as an English Teacher and Ticket Agent for American Airlines. She was an expert at any cottage industry she tried, and she loved to weave and knit, and plant flowers in her Arizona garden, generously giving much of what she created or grew to others. Suzie loved nature and her beloved Saguaro National Forest, and she and her husband could often be found hiking there, or holding hands while watching the beautiful sunsets, roaming the canyons, admiring the landscape, or star-gazing.
Suzie is survived by her husband, Jack Andrews; step-daughters, Melissa Andrews and granddaughter Adrienne of Tucson, AZ, Becky Andrews and Katy Andrews of Mentor, Ohio; father and step-mother, Hart and Milly Anway of Clinton, New York; siblings, Kim Anway-Anastasia (Mark Helseth) of North Fort Myers, FL, Andrew Anway (Kate Hannapel) of Arlington, MA, Cathy Walgenbach (Jim) of Hendersonville, NC, and Rebecca Valenti (Brian) of Orchard Park, NY; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Suzie was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Ann Anway; and her grandparents, Hart and Mary Anway, and Si and Marian Miller.
As Suzie wished, there will be no funeral. Donations in Suzie’s memory can be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Cir, Ft. Myers, FL 33908 (https://donate.hopehcs.org ) in appreciation of the excellent care she received during the last few weeks of her life.
