Mary Margaret MacAlpine

October 13, 1928 — October 1, 2024

Mary Margaret MacAlpine, 95, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2011, formerly of South Windsor, CT passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024. She was born October 13, 1928 in New Britain, CT to Henry and Mary Morrison, now deceased.

Mary was of the Catholic faith and attended St Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church in South Windsor, CT. She moved to Florida with her daughter Margaret in 2011. She attended First Baptist Church of Matlacha.

She was a devoted mother to six children whom she raised in South Windsor, CT with her husband Raymond MacAlpine. A graduate of East Hartford High School, she married Raymond in 1949. Mary worked outside the home part-time, but the majority of her time was spent taking care of and raising her children. She never missed a game, a dance recital, a play, or an event that highlighted one or more of her children. Her home was open to all the children in the neighborhood as well. Mom always had room at her dinner table, a spare pillow and blanket when needed. She loved and welcomed everyone to her home.

She is survived by her loving children, Margaret (Mark Blair) of Cape Coral, Karen MacAlpine, (predeceased), Raymond MacAlpine, Jr. (Heidi) of Manorville, NY, Julia Dee Moore (Rhodes) of Cape Coral, Jerry MacAlpine (Jeanie) of Hampton Bays, NY, and Marie O’Briant (Kevin) of Tolland, CT.

Grandchildren, Wilken Mahland III, (Leslie), Scott Mahland, (Maureen), Dana Anderson, (Tim), Jordan Niehoff, Donald Moore, (Sonia), Christae MacAlpine, Kerri MacAlpine, Raymond MacAlpine III, (Jacqueline), Robert MacAlpine, Samantha O’Briant, Kerstan Salvatore, (Nick), Joshua Mahland, and James Balmer. Her Great Grandchildren, Andrew, Avery, Kaelyn, Declan Mahland, Cameron, Isabelle Anderson, Ashlee and DJ Moore and Leilani MacAlpine. Mary was especially close to her nieces, Patricia, (predeceased), Virginia, Cynthia and Ann Marie and their families, as well as her many other nieces and nephews in Georgia and CT.

Mary is also survived by her “second” family of loving children. When Mary’s best friend Lee Roman, died at the age of 38, Lee left behind seven children, Lisa, Michael, Sandy, Scott, Mary-Pat, Laurie and Sherry. These children loved Mary as their own, just as she loved and cared for them in their time of grief and need. The Roman family will always remember and cherish Mary, as do we all who are blessed to be her children.

Mary is predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Henry Morrison, Helen Mihalak, Larry Morrison, Irene Kirk, her sisters-in-law, Evelyn Engdahl, Nancy Pelletier and Iva West.
