Matilda Greco

Matilda Greco, 93, a Cape Coral, Florida resident for the last 20 years, formerly of Lakewood, NJ, passed away Wednesday, March 26th, 2025 in Cape Coral.  She was born September 17th, 1931 in Newark, NJ to Samuel and Margaret Funicelli, now deceased.  

Matilda was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church in Cape Coral.   She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, bake, crochet and garden. She also loved to travel.  She will always be remembered as a strong, loving and brave women who was the heart and soul of her family.  She will be deeply missed. 

She is survived by five loving children, Margaret Greene of Beachwood, NJ, Joanna Luizzi and husband Phillip of Cape Coral, Janet Burgos and husband Charlie of Bayville, NJ, Patricia Greco and wife Ellen Miller of Ft. Myers, and Lisa Pratt and husband Kevin of Cape Coral; sister Anne Celli; 12 grandchildren, James, Dana, Andrea, Brian, Christopher, Vinnie, Paul, Joseph, Jessica, Jenna, Alyssa and Vincent; 20 great grandchildren, Cory, Makayla, Isaac, Ryan, Daniel, Julian, Adrian, Damian, Travis, Sophia, Nelly, Wesley, Emilia, Bennett, Nicolas, Rocco, Isabella, Alexander, Antonio and Christian; and 2 great great grandchildren Landyn and Avery.

Along with her parents, Matilda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years at his passing in 2015, James Greco; four sisters, Rose Grieco, Lucy Mancuso, Elizabeth Cicalease and Dorothy Funicelli as well as six brothers, Stanley, Frank, Jerry, Joseph, Alfredo and Samuel.

A memorial mass will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, April 4th, 2025, at St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church, 1922 SW 20th Avenue, Cape Coral, Florida 33991.
