Matthew “Matt” Brady Gerl

Matthew “Matt” Brady Gerl, of Cape Coral, FL, passed away Monday January 4, 2021. He was born April 11, 1964, in Alton, IL.
Matt worked at Evangelical Christian School, his alma mater and volunteered for CityGate Ministries as part of the Worship Technical Team. Mr. Gerl attended Evangelical Christian School in Fort Myers, FL.
He had a lifelong passion for music and audio systems. He was an avid reader, collector of first edition and rare books. He will be remembered for hosting Game Nights on a weekly basis and as a way to celebrate special events. A devoted family man, and a beloved friend, he demonstrated his love for others with his renowned meals and catered events, large and small. His impressive stature is eclipsed only by the enormity of his heart.
He is survived by his wife, Carla; mother, Bonnie Casey; brother, Mark and wife Debora; sister in law, Nikki; two sons and their wives, Joseph and Raquel, Matthew and Nikki; grandchildren, Jacen, Eli, Aria, Skyla, and Parker; as well as four nephews.
Matt was preceded in death by his step father, David Casey; brother, Michael; as well as his father, Floyd.
Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January 9, 2021 at CityGate Ministries, 1735 Jackson Street, Fort Myers, FL 33901 with Pastor David and Pastor Grey officiating.
