Mavis Lytle, 68, a resident of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of North Fort Myers, Cape Coral, FL and Lewiston, MI passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in Punta Gorda. She was born December 29, 1947 in Port Huron, MI to Fenton and Marie Jex, now deceased. Mavis was born and raised in Port Huron, MI, and grew up in the Pine Grove area. She attended Port Huron Northern where she graduated and met many of her closet friends, and the love of her life, Jack. Mavis was a school bus driver for many years for The Marysville Schools. Her proud moment came when she had the privilege of bussing the football state champion Vikings to the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan. Mavis and Jack were avid bowlers and Mavis held one of the highest averages for women in the Blue Water area for many years. Mavis also volunteered countless hours to the Marysville Little League, coaching and doing whatever it took to get the league up and running every season. Since moving to Lewiston, MI in 1991 then to Florida in 2007, Mavis could be found at any area campground or swimming pool living the retired life the way it was supposed to be lived. Mavis was a special person to anyone that had the honor of meeting her. She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Jack R. Lytle of Punta Gorda; three loving children, Michelle Lytle and her significant other, Jim Westbrook of Englewood, FL. Sherri Lytle of Punta Gorda, and Jack "Skip" Lytle (Georgeann) of Ft. Myers, FL; brother, David Jex of North Fort Myers, FL; She is known as Crazy Gramma to her eleven grandchildren, Melissa Hurlburt, Kayanna Hurlburt, Mavrick Nihranz, Jaxson Nihranz, Cierra Durrance-Lytle, Carson Lytle, CJ Lytle, Chloe Lytle, Cris Lytle, Camrynn Lytle, and Cooper Lytle; as well as Joey the Cat. Mavis was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Jex. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM at Cape Coral Veterans Foundation and Military Museum, 4820 Leonard Street, Cape Coral, FL 33904. A Committal Service will be held 10:30 AM Monday, March 14, 2016 at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241. Memorial Contributions in memory of Mavis Lytle are suggested to Cape Coral Veterans Foundation and Military Museum, 4820 Leonard Street, Cape Coral, FL 33904.
