Michael Anthony Kraus

Michael Anthony Kraus, 72, a resident of North Fort Myers, FL since 1970, formerly of Narrowsburg, NY, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024 in North Fort Myers. He was born August 27, 1952 in Narrowsburg, NY to Edward and Rita Kraus, now deceased.

Michael was of the Catholic faith. He was a dedicated, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He served his community for 26 years as a local hero fireman, engineer, captain, assistant chief, and EMT with the City of Fort Myers Fire Department. During his career, he received a George Sanders distinguished fire service award, and he was also a training Captain and member of the SWFL District IV emergency response and local planning committee.

After his distinguished career, he served as chairman of the board for The Patriot Riders of America, a wonderful group of bikers that helps raise funds for veterans and their families. He was passionate about auto body work and painting cars. With a knack for tinkering, he could fix anything. His sharp wit and playful humor were contagious, but his heart of gold and unconditional love for those closest to him will forever be remembered.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Monica Kraus of North Fort Myers; four children, Michael Kraus, Jr. of North Fort Myers, Rita Kraus of Punta Gorda, FL, Charlie Kraus (Amanda) of Fort Myers, FL, and Lora Harrell (James) of North Fort Myers; sister in law, Doreen Kraus of New York; several nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren, Destiny, Michael III, Katie, Jasmine, Shane, Lily, and James, Jr.; as well as Callie and TJ the cats.

Michael was preceded in death by two brothers, James Kraus and Ed Kraus.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 6781 Slater Pines Drive, North Fort Myers, FL 33917.
