Michael Walter O'Leary, 76, a resident of Lincoln, Rhode Island since 1998, spending winters in Naples, FL, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024 in Naples, FL. He was born November 24, 1947 in Cambridge, MA to Walter Harold and Ruth Ann O'Leary, now deceased.
Michael was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of St Ambrose Church in Albion, RI and St Ann Church in Naples, FL. He grew up in Arlington, MA with his brothers and many friends. He graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Business, where he played his favorite sport of football. Michael was a proud member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, and he served term as President. He worked in the Music and Restaurant Industries in the White Mountains of NH and owned Mikio's Restaurant in Portland, ME.
He started a new career as a Real Estate Appraiser, an occupation that he practiced for many years, taught Appraisal courses and mentored several students who were new to the field. He was the Tax Assessor for the Town of Cumberland, RI, where he worked under Mayor Dan McKee, now Governor of RI. For the last 10 years of his career, he was the Commercial Appraiser for the City of Providence.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a caring brother, a kind Uncle, a steadfast friend, a diligent worker, and a trusted person to lean on, for members of the Cumberland Community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen O'Leary of Lincoln, RI and Naples, FL, two brothers, Stephen O'Leary (Betty) of Arlington, MA, David O'Leary (Carol) of Vero Beach, FL. Nieces including Allison, (his godchild), Casey, Becky, and Beth. As well as two nephews, Adam and Ryan.
He is great-uncle to Brendan and Ryan, Helen and James, Jack, Ryan and Owen, Molly, Drew and Julia. He is also brother-in-law to Patricia Lucas and uncle to Amy and Christopher and great-uncle to Lilly and Ella, Madison and Camden.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 28, 2024 at St. Joachiam Chapel of St. Ann Catholic Church, 475 9th Avenue South, Naples, FL 34102 with Father Bill Davis officiating.
