Michael Allen Rumley

July 28, 1967 — January 8, 2025

Michael Allen Rumley, 57, passed away suddenly on January 8th, 2025. He was born July 28th, 1967 to the late Marvin Jones and the late Frances Sykes in Medina, Ohio. Frances remarried Gary Rumley, and he adopted Michael. Gary Rumley later married Rita Rumley, a cherished bonus mom.

He is survived by his last love, Albina Rumley of Naples, FL; daughters, Taryn (Stanley) Simpson of Woodstock, GA, Katie (Dusty) Nalley of Cleveland, GA, Lauren Rumley of Cleveland, GA, Crystal Cooper of Mentor, Ohio, Ashley Cooper of Ohio and Diana Ionel of Naples, FL; grandchildren, Cody, Emma, and Stanleigh Simpson of Woodstock, GA, Aria, Aiden, (two precious ones on the way) Nalley of Cleveland, GA, and Adeline Vaughn of Cleveland, GA; brothers, Scott Rumley of Tampa, FL, Gary (Julia) Rumley Jr. of Medina, OH, William Jones of Spanishburg, WV, and Carlos Sykes of OH; sisters Narissa Virant of Medina, OH, Melissa McCourt of OH, Edna Jones-Combs of Princeton, WV, and Melissa Jones of Rock, WV; nieces and nephews in Ohio, West Virginia, and Florida; and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, Frances Sykes of Medina, OH, and biological father Marvin Jones of Princeton, WV. 

Michael attended Buckeye High School and after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Until his death, he was a proud Marine who was ranked as a Lance Corporal. He studied HVAC and graduated from the University of Akron with an Associate in Science after serving in the USMC. He worked as an animal control officer in Medina County, Ohio for several years, and then worked for ITW Hobart for many years in Ohio and Florida working on commercial kitchen equipment. He valued his time working for ITW Hobart for many years and had a deep mutual respect with his colleagues. He was also a lead technician for Heritage Whaley Food Service. He always believed in hard work and loved to stay busy. During his free time, he was very skilled with his artistic abilities from making musical instruments to creating works of art on wood or canvas. He was a brilliant mind who loved music of all kinds and always learned as much as he could. He was an avid animal lover who was known to always have a cat or dog. Although he enjoyed these things in his spare time, he cherished his children and family the most. He would always make sure to spend time with his mom before her passing either in visits or phone calls. He would talk to his girls often and made sure they knew that he loved them. Holidays were special with him, as he loved to make the meals extra special filled with his love for his family. He was known to also eat whatever weird concoctions his grandchildren would come up with. 

A memorial service will be held for Michael on March 15th, 2025 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Location:17 The Fairway, Woodstock, GA 30188.
