Michael George Yesenko and Catherine Hubert Yesenko

Michael George Yesenko, 73, and Catherine Hubert Yesenko, 71, were longtime residents of  Matlacha, FL, formerly of Norwich, CT and Le Mans, France. Michael passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022  and Catherine passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022 in Matlacha, FL.   

Michael was born March 24, 1949 in Greenwich, CT.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Christina Yesenko, and his sisters, Joan Marzulla and Elaine Thompson.  

Catherine was born January 8, 1951 in Paris, France. She was preceded in death by her parents Serge Arthur Hubert and Jeanine Wolf Hubert.

Michael and Catherine had an entrepreneurial spirit and will be remembered as people who embraced life.  They made everyone whom they came in contact with feel comfortable and loved. Their small bungalow in Matlacha was their love nest. Michael would cook as he looked out a large window and talk to "Gimpy" his favorite pelican, while the birds landed on their dock. In fact, they were so close to water, they could fish off their back porch. While Michael would fish, Catherine would bargain hunt and visit any number of yard sales with family and friends. They traveled the United States and Europe, especially their beloved France, where Catherine’s family and friends lived.

Michael and Catherine are survived by Michael’s brother-in-law, Ralph Marzulla, and their nephews and nieces, Ralph Marzulla, Michael Marzulla, and Julie Ceci of Greenwich, CT; and Ruth Brunelle Petrella, H. Fletcher Brunelle, and Donna Brunelle of Las Vegas, NV along with 15 great nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations in memory of Michael George Yesenko and Catherine Hubert Yesenko to Cape Coral Animal Shelter, 325 SW 2nd Ave, Cape Coral, FL 33991.
