Norman Leslie Szostak

September 2, 1949 — August 21, 2024

Norman Leslie Szostak of N. Fort Myers, Florida, entered eternal life on August 21, 2024 at the age of 74. He was born September 2, 1949 to Joseph and Ann Szostak in Detroit Michigan.

Loving Father to his son Joseph C. Szostak. Sisters; Carol (Tom) Beauchemin and Vivian (Ron) McConnell. And many nieces and nephews, and his loving friend Patty. He was predeceased by his brother Gary (Diane) Szostak.

He graduated from Roseville High School in 1967. Shortly after, he joined the United States Air Force, where he specialized in Signals Intelligence and served in Vietnam. It was through the Air Force that he met his former wife Kathy, and together they built their home in Florida.

He was fascinated with technology, as long as it didn’t involve microprocessors, and enjoyed applying it through his hobbies and work. He retired after many years of building and managing bank security and alarm systems, back when everything relied on physical engineering.

As a licensed pilot for single-engine aircraft, he had a passion for flight but mostly pursued it through building RC planes from scratch and flying them with friends. He also had a natural sense of timing, which he loved sharing through goofy humor, and making music. He played drums in a band called ‘The Hysterics’, a local favorite best known for their album ‘The Girl Upstairs’.

His empathy and kindness formed several close friendships that felt more like family. He was always ready for a party.
