Oscar Perez, 95, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025. Born in Bueycito, Cuba, in 1929, Oscar lived a full and vibrant life devoted to family, faith, and hard work.
Oscar was a loving husband to his wife of many years, Abigail Perez, and a proud father to his son, Argelio Perez. He is also survived by four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who were the joy of his later years. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Oscar Gelasio Perez Cabrera, whose memory remained close to his heart.
A man of great skill and dedication, Oscar spent his career in automotive repair and sales, earning the trust and respect of all who worked with him. Though his formal education ended after grade school, his practical knowledge, work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit carried him far.
Outside of work, Oscar found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved entertaining family and friends, sharing music from his youth and his love for Musica Ranchera, and cooking—especially roasting pigs, which became a beloved tradition at family gatherings. His Cuban heritage and Catholic faith were cornerstones of his identity and guided him throughout his life.
Oscar will be remembered for his warmth, hospitality, and the pride he took in his family, friends and culture. His legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A private service will be held with close family in attendance. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Oscar’s memory by gathering with loved ones and sharing a meal—just as he would have wanted.
