Patricia Sue Hammerstrom

Patricia Sue (Ellis) Hammerstrom, 65, a Cape Coral, FL resident for the last two years, formerly of St. Michael, MN passed away Monday, May 11, 2015 in Cape Coral. She was born August 21, 1949 in Chicago, IL to Virgil Ellis, Sr. and wife Dorothy, now deceased.

Patricia was of the Lutheran faith. She was a loving Mother, wife and grandmother. Raising two boys on her own was a challenge but one that she welcomed. Pat was retired and upon moving to Florida she quickly fell in love with the beach and all that it had to offer. Even after becoming sick last year she continued to go. And when she could not make it Jay would go and grab her favorite food from the beach. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 28 years, Jay R. Hammerstrom of Cape Coral; her loving sons, Thomas C. Oprzedek, Jr. of Chicago and Shawn Ellis of Ft. Myers; a sister, Kathy Podzius of Crestwood, IL; a brother, Greg Ellis of Tinley Park, IL; a granddaughter, Melissa Ellis of Maple Grove, MN; as well as two nieces, Amy and Ashley.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Ellis, Jr. and her grandson, Anthony V. Ellis.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

Celebration of Life will be held at 5:30pm the 24th of May at 655 W Irving Park Road 2nd Floor Gathering Room, Chicago, IL 60613.

No formal services are planned in Florida.
