Paul Douglas Pearce

Paul Douglas Pearce, 67, of Ft. Myers, formerly of Charlotte County and North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday August 6, 2014 in Cape Coral. He was born on March 20, 1947 in Greensboro, NC to Percy and Dorothy Pearce, now deceased.

Doug was of the Presbyterian faith. He was an entrepreneur- starting from the bottom, he worked hard and built a successful retail furniture business which he owned and operated for 20+ years until he retired in 2004. Doug was known for his gorgeous blue eyes, and his undeniable charm. His larger than life personality would fill every room he entered. He always had an amazing story to share. He loved his wife, he loved his children and grandchildren and was such a devoted son. Our family takes comfort in the thought that he is reunited with our mother, our brother, his parents, and is shag dancing to beach music up in heaven. He was deeply loved, and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his five children, Melanie Hope Hunt of NC, Elizabeth Gray (Ray) of Anderson, SC, Melissa McDaniel (Paul) of Cape Coral, FL, Summer Halgrim (Erik) of Ft. Myers, FL and Kelly Pearce of Ft. Myers FL; his siblings Donald (Carol) Pearce of Chipley, FL and Elizabeth Quinn of Pt. Charlotte, FL; 1 nephew, 3 nieces, as well as 14 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Beth" Pearce in 2004 as well as their son, Paul Pearce, II in 2013.
