Randall James Carter, 84, an Estero, Florida resident for the last 23 years, formerly of Roswell, GA, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025, in Fort Myers, FL. He was born September 11, 1940, in Indianapolis, IN to Gladys and James Carter, now deceased.
Randall was a member of the Gulf Coast Church of Christ, Fort Myers and was a US Air Force veteran. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Engineering in Indianapolis where he also met his wife Betty Joe who received her degree in nursing from Indiana Central. After many years working in Indianapolis for the American Plywood Association as a technical expert, Randall was transferred to Clearwater FL and then to Roswell GA. He and Betty spent many years in Roswell where she helped start Alpharetta Pediatrics. After retirement, Randall and Betty moved to Estero, having fallen in love with Florida living many years before on the frequent family vacations to Ft. Myers beach and the Neptune Inn.
Everywhere Randall went, he and Betty were always heavily involved with their churches. Randall served as a Deacon and an Elder most of his life. He and Betty also volunteered many hours at the Liberty Youth Ranch. Randall was always building things whether it be additions to homes, garages or his actual house for many years in Indianapolis. But his crowning achievement was supervising and managing the construction of the multi-million dollar church building for the Gulf Coast Church of Christ.
Randall will always be remembered for his kind spirit, his warm smile and his hilariously dry sense of humor and quick wit. He was a friend to all, willing to help anyone in need. But most of all, he was a devoted Husband, Father and servant for God.
Randall is survived by his two sons, Scott Carter and wife Angela of Cape Coral, FL and Chris Carter and wife Renae of Jensen Beach, FL; two siblings, Susie Bradley of Indianapolis and Jeff Carter and his wife Connie of Ocoee, FL; five grandchildren, Emily, Evan, Zach, Jack and Sam; three nephews, Blaine, Quinten and Mark; as well as three nieces, Nerissa, April and Cherie.
In addition to his parents, Randall was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Joe Carter in 2017; as well as two sisters, Diane Carter and Sandra Gosnell.
A Memorial Service will be held for Randall at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Gulf Coast Church of Christ, 9550 Six Mile Cypress Parkway, Fort Myers, FL 33966.
Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.
