Raymond Patrick Jansen

Raymond Patrick Jansen, 98, a resident of Lee County, FL since 1984, formerly of London, Ontario, Canada, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023 in Cape Coral, FL. He was born November 27, 1924 in Grand Rapids, MI to John and Catherine Jansen, now deceased.

Raymond was of the Catholic faith and a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a lifelong golf club member, splitting his rounds at Sunningdale in London, Ontario, and Palmetto Pines in Cape Coral, where Ray & Bernie had a beautiful retirement home overlooking the 17th hole. Ray was an avid bridge player, initiating bridge clubs, both at Palmetto Pines and at Discovery Village. He lived a healthy lifestyle playing golf into his mid-90’s and played bridge into his final year.

He is survived by seven loving children, Michael Jansen (Kathy) of Mississauga Ontario, David Jansen (Lynne) of London, Ontario, Mark Jansen of London, Ontario, Christine Jansen (Doug) of Goderich, Ontario, Paul Jansen (Jackie) of London, Ontario, Tim Jansen (Sandy) of London, Ontario, and Terry Jansen (Nicki) of Sudbury, Ontario; fifteen grandchildren; as well as fourteen great grandchildren.

Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bernie Jansen in 2013 after 66 years of marriage.

Raymond was preceded in death by his sister Marie Reynolds, and brothers John and Edward.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Canada.
