Raymond John Smith, III, 57, a resident of Cape Coral since 2016 formerly of Elmsford, New York passed away Monday June 5, 2023 in Cape Coral. He was born June 25,1965.
Raymond was the eldest of four children. Raym had the biggest and kindest heart. He would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it or find a way to get you whatever you needed. When he laughed, it sounded like a little girl, there was always a “Tee Hee” in a high pitch voice, that’s how you knew Raymond thought something was really funny. We’re going to miss that laugh.
He was a loveable grump by nature, his cancer sign was quite fitting to his personality. He often spoke very softly and like he had marbles in his mouth mumbling. Unfortunately for him, the rest of us are hard of hearing, so we drove him nuts making him repeat himself. Raymond, if you had any luck it wasn’t good luck but you never complained about what went on you just did whatever you had to do to get through it.
Raymond loved fishing, he was always puttering trying to fix things mechanically, he was also known for his love of cookies and ice cream.
He loved his family so deeply. We are all filled as grown adults now with memories of Raym bringing us to the park, the mall, the deli or ice cream.
He is survived by his mother, Jan; his brothers, Brian and sister in law Ann, Brenton and Laura; his nieces, Ivy, Trinity and nephew, Tryston. He is also survived by his sister, Bethany, brother in law, Michael and his nephews, Jacob, Arran and Collin.
Rest easy Raym there’s no more pain, you’re free from all the bad luck and you can help everyone the way you wanted to while you were here on earth. I hope you get to hug Daddy and Gregory with all your might and tell them how much we miss you all. Be good until we meet again.
No formal services are planned at this time.
Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.
