Renee Arline Greisz

Renee Arline Greisz, 75, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2021, formerly of Eddyville, KY, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023 in Cape Coral. She was born March 13, 1948 in Chicago, IL to Oscar and Celia Cohen, now deceased.

Renee was of the Messianic Jewish faith. She worked in mortgage banking for over 30 years and loved her job. Renee also owned a bar in Lake Villa, IL for years with her husband, Harold. She was an avid bowler and was always a member of different bowling leagues. Renee was a huge animal lover. If she found an animal, she would take it into her home. She loved dogs and cats, but she loved feeding the birds, squirrels, raccoons, hummingbirds and any animal that was around her house. Renee loved nature and the country. She loved trees, lakes and the peace of being in nature.

In Renee’s earlier years, she loved to dance and have a good time. She knew how to party with the best of them. She loved music, especially Michael Jackson and Barbara Streisand. But was a fan of all music. Renee had a heart of gold and would even take strangers into her home, especially during the holidays. She believed no one should spend the holidays alone. She loved Christmas with all the lights and decorations but most of all, having family around. Renee found joy in so many simple things and loved to laugh. She had a huge personality and was like a firecracker. She enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. She was a special person who put other’s needs before her own.

She will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.

She is survived by her loving children, Marcy Gray (Jon) of Cape Coral, and Todd Griglin (Connie) of Cape Coral; stepchildren, Michael Greisz (Julie) of Kentucky, and Mark Greisz (Dawn) of Venice, FL; sister, Elaine Goldstein of Grays Lake, IL; eleven grandchildren, Robert, Christopher, Thomas, Derek, Amanda, Anthony (Spanky), Jordan, Runo, Zachary, Ashlei and Joshua; one great grandchild, Skyler; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Renee was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Greisz in 2020; as well as brothers, Marvin Cohen and William Cohen.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Bartlett Park District, 700 S Bartlett Rd, Bartlett, IL 60103. Food will also be served.
