Rhea Ann Rhodes

December 4, 1975 — July 7, 2024

Rhea Ann Rhodes, 48, a resident of Lee County, FL since 2005, formerly of Brazil, IN, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024 in Cape Coral, FL. She was born December 4, 1975 in Brazil, IN to Carl and Deselee Rhodes, now deceased.

Rhea was a gorgeous and larger than life woman who was always on the move. She worked hard and played hard but her family was her world and reason to live and love [her brother (Dusty), her 3 kids (Brooke, Luke, and Lacey), her grandbaby (Alaia-her favorite person), and her loving kids father (John)]. She was a talented window tinter, an otherworldly mother and grandma, and an irreplaceable friend.

The last months of her life seemed to be a series of tying up loose ends. She had just seen her brother that he she hadn’t seen in 12 years, and that meant the world to her. She had gone to live with and help her daughter and granddaughter for a while. She loved that time she got to spend with them and spoiling that baby with more attention than she could imagine. She then moved on to stay with her other daughter where she helped with so many fun and not so fun projects; she was never too busy or tired to be there for her. They both truly loved all the time they had together. Rhea was incredibly proud of her only son and the life he was building for himself and his wife. Lastly, she was able to spend great time with John, who was always there for her and she for him.

Rhea and John gained their salvation being saved and we all hold great peace in knowing that she will be with the Lord. Rhea passed in John’s presence and that is the biggest consolation of all; she was not alone. Her family believes that it was her time and God was ready for her.

As selfishly heartbroken and devastated as we are, she is finally at peace. Rhea was too special for this world and conforming was never in the cards for her. She was a flamingo in a flock of pigeons. She is home with the Lord where she can be herself unapologetically for now and eternity. We love and miss you so much mom/Rhea and until we see you again; fly high mama.

She is survived by her former husband and best friend, John Douglas of Cape Coral, FL; three children, Brooke Douglas & fiancé, John Grillo of Cape Coral, FL, Luke Douglas (Clara) of Oklahoma City, OK, Lacey Douglas and partner Joseph Ashker of Cape Coral; granddaughter, Alaia of Cape Coral, FL; brother, Dusty Rhodes (Chynia) and niece, Breyuana of Terra Haute, IN.
