Richard L. Achilles, 84, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2004, formerly of Wilmington, NC and Danbury, CT, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024 in Cape Coral. He was born April 9, 1940 in Philadelphia, PA to Louis and Edna Achilles, now deceased.

Richard was of the Baptist faith and attended Grace Baptist church in Cape Coral, FL. He graduated with degrees in Psychology and Counseling from Pennsylvania State University. He worked for most of his career as a Human Resource administrator and executive for IBM. Richard was the President of the Wilmington, NC chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association, and the student relations director for the Fort Myers PSU Alumni Chapter responsible for recruiting and scholarship efforts.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Achilles; four children, Steven Achilles (Jennifer) of Danbury, CT, Elizabeth Esposito (Peter) of Seymour, CT, Jeffrey Achilles of Wilmington, NC, and Jennifer Achilles (Elbert St. Claire) of New York, NY; sister, Elayne Achilles of Phoenix, AZ; as well as seven grandchildren: Daniel, Alexis, Dylan, Marissa, Kaitlyn, Kara, and Molly.

A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Baptist Church at 1300 Ceitus Terrace in Cape Coral, FL at 10:30 AM on August 20, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Richard L. Achilles may be made to Tunnels to Towers (t2t.org), a charitable organization working to provide mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families and to eradicate veteran homelessness.
