Richard James Malik

Richard James Malik, 68, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past eleven years, formerly of Westchester, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 in Fort Myers, FL. He was born April 6, 1955 in Chicago, IL to Richard and June Malik, now deceased.

Richard was a hero. He risked his life for not only his family, but for the community of Westchester, IL. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Westchester, IL then went on to pursue his dream of becoming a firefighter with the Westchester Fire Department in 1989 until he retired in 2011. Following his retirement, he pursued another dream of his, and relocated his family to Florida. Richard was family oriented and had a passion for cooking. Richard had a heart of gold and will be missed by many.  

He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Malik of Cape Coral; children, Rick Malik of IN, Andy Malik, Samantha Malik, Lindsey Malik, Peyton Malik, and Kayla Harrison all of Cape Coral, FL, and Amy Pluhar of IL; nephew, Richard; as well as nine grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by sister, Laura McGhee.
