Richard Charles Perry passed away peacefully in Fort Myers, Florida on 15 February 2024. He was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on 17 January 1934, to Lloyd Perry and Laura (Holden) Perry.
Richard and his family lived in Nashua where he was active in the Boy Scouts and enjoyed playing trumpet for the high school band. After his U.S. Army service he graduated from the University of New Hampshire and moved to Dover, New Hampshire where he met and married the love of his life, Marie Jeanne Labbe on June 21, 1958 at the St. Charles Catholic Church, Dover, New Hampshire.
Following a short period, he settled in Somersworth, New Hampshire and began a life of service that spanned over five decades. He helped wherever he saw a need, from ushering at the local parish to two terms as a Somersworth City Councilman, to continued service with the Boy Scouts of America. He made a significant mark in the Scouting community with accomplishments that included starting a new Cub Scout pack and organizing countless new events for the Scouts, one of which was featured in their national magazine. His contributions to Scouting led to the Daniel Webster Council awarding him the Silver Beaver in recognition of his distinguished service to the Boy Scouts in New Hampshire.
In 1998, Richard and his wife relocated to Florida. His dedication to service followed him into retirement including fifteen years as a Guardian Ad Litem for the Florida 20th Judicial Circuit where he tirelessly helped abandoned and neglected children in Lee County. As a talented craftsman, his wooden hobby horses, toys, and decorations were much sought after at auction in support of Special Equestrians of Fort Myers. He was also an avid model railroader with a passion for the circus who created elaborate scale models for all to enjoy.
Richard is survived by his wife of over sixty-five years, Marie Jeanne; three children, Richard and his wife, Cetti, Linda and her husband, Terry and Brian and his wife Sandy; five grandchildren, Tyler, John, Brianne, Zachary, and Julia; and five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Ivy, Lila, Carson, and Arlo.
