Richard W. Sandlin

Richard Wayne Sandlin, 59, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2000, formerly of Panama City Beach, FL, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 in Cape Coral. He was born August 26, 1959 in Birmingham, AL. Richard was of the Baptist faith and served in The United Sates Army. He was an-E-4 Specialist stationed in Schofield Barrack in Oahu, Hawaii, and was trained at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. Richard's hard-working and dedicated personality reflected his strong Southern roots. His kindness and careful thought was evident in everything he did. He served as Assistant Superintendent at Signal Hill Golf Course in Panama City Beach before moving to Cape Coral. Richard owned a successful landscaping business for eight years before working for the City of Cape Coral as an Operator in the Public Works Department and leading a team working to control storm water drainage. Richard loved Southwest Florida, and spent his free time playing golf and fishing for Snook, Tarpon, and Redfish. He loved working with his hands, whether it be woodworking or mechanics. He will be remembered as a thoughtful, kind, and enterprising individual who was loved deeply by his friends and family. In lieu of flowers we are asking for donations to Families for Depression Awareness to help understand and eliminate depression (https://www.familyaware.org) He is survived by his loving mother, Betty Alden (Sandlin) of Panama City Beach, FL; loving son, Cory Sandlin of Fort Myers, FL; as well as a brother, Dean Sandlin (Terrie) of Zachary, LA. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Wayne Sandlin.
