Robert Junior Carter

Robert Junior Carter, 87, a Lee county resident since 1980, formerly of Bellville, MI, passed away on December 28, 2014 in Cape Coral. He was born on September 8, 1927 in Brownstown Township, MI to Bert Pelton and Millie Carter, now deceased.

Robert worked most of his life in the transportation industry. He worked hard to support his family. Robert served his country in the Army, in Tokyo, Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1947. In Michigan, he drove a truck for Saginaw Transfer and then transitioned over to Consolidated Freightways and retired in the early 80's from them. He was a loving father with a good sense of humor and enjoyed traveling the world with his wife once he retired. He will be deeply missed and will remain in the hearts of those that knew him and loved him.

He is survived by three loving children, Kristine Vennard (Dennis) of Warren, MI, Donna Simpson of Alva, FL, and Elizabeth Rutledge (Jim) of Robinson, IL; one brother, Richard Mills and one sister, Maryanne; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; as well as dear friends, Lucian Marceau, Stan Viner and Shirley Kwiatkowski.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Francina Carter in 2013, as well as his son, Bobby Carter, and his sister, Patricia Hanson.

Formal services will be planned at a later date in Michigan.
