Robert Pearson Kiehl, 89, a Florida resident since 1996, formerly of Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, April 13, 2015 . He was born on June 14, 1925 in Canton, OH to Wilbur and Harriet Kiehl, now deceased.
Robert was a Private in the United States Army Paratroop Infantry during World War II. Upon returning home he attended and graduated from Fenn College, Cleveland, Ohio with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, 1950. He continued to go to school receiving many Post Graduate Credits while he worked at Republic Steel of Cleveland, Ohio.
Robert retired from LTV Steel in 1981 as the Senior Purchasing Agent. He continued to do contract work until he completely retired in 1996 at which time he and his wife Betty moved to a lovely community in Florida. There he became well known through out their community for helping with computer problems, sharing his generator after hurricanes, being treasurer of the Community Association, walking 2 miles a day and being friend to all.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Betty Kiehl; sister, Nancy Gundersen (Gunder) of Wadsworth, OH and brother, Dr. Royal Kiehl (Dr. Phyllis) of Anchorage, AK; six loving children, Robert Kiehl, Jr. (Lyn) of Akron, NY, Thomas Kiehl (Jeanette) of Niles, MI, Michael Kiehl (Charlene) of Strongsville, OH, Nancy Kiehl (Frank Wylie) of Clayton, OH, Sue Geist (Grant) of New Philadelphia, OH, and Dee Helm;14 grandchildren; as well as three great grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Maggiore (Carl) and Patricia Trumblak (Joseph), a brother, Jack Kiehl (Faye & Silva), as well as two children, Rebecca Kiehl Plude (Bryan) and Gregory Visnosky (Judi).
