Robert Edward Lawler, 73, a resident of Cape Coral since 2002, formerly of Ft. Dodge, IA, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020 in Cape Coral. He was born January 29, 1947 in Ft. Dodge, IA to George and Beatrice Lawler, now deceased.
Robert attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church and graduated from St. Edmond’s High School of Ft. Dodge, IA. He graduated from Iowa State University, Ames, IA with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He ran Swaney Equipment Company in Fort Dodge for many years with his father and mother before their passing and then continued the business until his retirement. He and his wife Bonnie retired to Cape Coral, FL. He was an avid golfer and will be remembered at many courses for his love of the game.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Bonnie A. Lawler, of Cape Coral; two children, Russell Lawler of Houston, TX and Danielle Lindee (Robert) of Panama City Beach, FL; two sisters, Peg Vanourny (Dr. Steven) of Estero, FL, and Mary Shields (Cliff) of Lancaster, CA; one brother, Dennis Lawler (Sue) of Fayetteville, AR; three grandchildren, Kiana Luse, Adam Lindee and Andrew Lindee; one great grandchild, Dante as well as several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by a brother, George Lawler, Jr.
