Sandra Ellen Strickland

Sandra Ellen Strickland, 69, a Cape Coral, FL resident since 2006, formerly of Waycross, GA, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014 in Cape Coral. She was born April 6, 1945 in Waycross to Irvin and Mary Tuten, now deceased.

Sandra was of the Christian faith. She was a wonderful mother, a caring grandmother... a sweet, kind strong, beautiful lady with a loving soul who mentored all of us to be truly good from our hearts. Mom showed by example how to live a Godly life, take care of our family and no matter how far apart we lived, she insisted we always stay close and love to the fullest! Mom gave us the gift of the importance of family. We will take this gift with us moving forward through generations to come. She was an example of all things good, from her nursing career to her Christian faith to her care for her family and loyalty to her friends. Everyone that came in contact with her was touched by her kindness and compassion. She found happiness in helping and caring for others and always put the needs of others before her own, which is no wonder why her career as a nurse was her true calling! She was an angel on our earth... and now a beautiful angel from above, healthy and strong enough to look over each and every one of us, which is all she ever wanted... was for everyone to be happy and healthy and OK. Now her new journey begins in a place where she always spoke of, with our Lord in Heaven! With a heavy heart, we ask that you celebrate Sandra's wonderful life! She is survived by three beloved children, David Strickland (Tonya) of Cape Coral, Lyn McCall (Mac) of Mesa, AZ and Jamie Strickland (Kristin) also of Cape Coral; four siblings, Derwin Tuten (Marie) of Waycross, GA, Joyce McDaniel (Johnnie) of Warner Robins, GA, Jim Tuten (June) of Dumfries, VA and Billy Tuten of Roswell, GA; as well as 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Hope Hospice Chapel, 2430 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral, FL 33909 with Chaplain Dale Carson officiating.
